Romance Divas Temp Forum up and running now….

And now a message from our diva admins–PLEASE READ!

1. Yes, we know it’s not the right color, that will get fixed soon.

2. I’ve had to reset all the permissions, so if you can’t access something you could before, you’re not being punished, it just needs to be reset.

3. This is the newest version of the board, so there may be some new features we don’t all know about yet.

4. Due to the board being whacked out, some spammers have probably gotten in. Let a mod know about them and they’ll be zapped into oblivion as soon as possible.

5. Any other problems/bugs/etc will be worked out in the next few days.

6. If an Admin does not respond to you, we are not ignoring your requests. This only means we are most likely on vacation and will contact you when they return. So have patience and we will be back on track in 2008!

The forums are moving to a new host! A ticket for the service has been started, and the new forums should be up soon.

Hey divas and divadudes! Here’s the latest:

Looks like we’ll be moving host companies. We’ll have one for the
main part of the website and one for the forum. Alan Morgan has
graciously and generously offered to host the non-forum part of the
site, once again proving the amazingness of the people involved in
this site.

The forum part of the process (barring any unforseen circumstances)
should get started on Monday after I talk to the new hosting company
(for the forum) and get some satisfactory answers to my questions. I
don’t know how long it will take, but that’s one of my questions so I
hope to have more info on Monday about that.

The Good: This should permanently solve our forum problems.

The Bad: I have no idea how long this move will take, especially
since it’s the holiday season.

The Ugly: We’ll have to repopulate the forum as I believe most of our
posts have been lost during this whole mess. However, based on the
chattiness of this loop, I don’t think that’s such an awful thing.
Yes, that’s a lot of info gone, but we’ll recover.

Lastly, I’ll post the grand total of what’s been donated to the RD
Web Fund on Monday. Thanks to all the many generous divas who have
stepped up in our time of need. You all are so fabulous there aren’t
words.

And a further update -

The ticket has been created to transfer the forum to our new host (and
hopefully our final host). I don’t know how long it will take, but when
they tell me, I’ll tell you. They don’t think more than a few days.

The best part is the Diva Web Fund generated enough money to pay for
the license renewal (for the board – we have to renew our license to
own it every year), the year’s worth of upgraded hosting and chat!

Hello Divas & Dudes:

Recently our hosting company decided to do upgrades across the board. In the process they’ve encountered some rather big bumps. Since we aren’t their first priority, naturally we would get the bulk of the unresolved issues. At the moment, we have decided not to change hosting just yet. We are ensured that these issues will be fixed. I believe that by the new year Kristen and I will decide which way to go. As you may noticed all our data is missing. This could be from the fact that they did not back us up before implementing the upgrades. I am optimistic the data will be recovered. If not, please be patient as we try to re-populate.

It’s ironic that we would have another major issue on our 3rd anniversary. It’s almost as if it’s a way to test RD.  If we cannot recover the data, Kristen and I have decided we’ll start the new year fresh.

So, I ask that everyone continue to support us as we try to fix the little kinks. These challenges will only make our site grow stronger.

On another note, my computer has crashed so there is not a lot of things I will be able to take care of until I either 1) get it fixed 2) buy a new computer. In the event that you are panicking, don’t. We’ve got great people on our team including our whiz Alan Morgan on the job. YAY ALAN, WE LOVE YOU!!!!

I just wanted to also add that although RD is a familiar and addictive site, please be aware that we do have lives of our own and often times they are personal issues that will require us to be away. This is the holiday season, so with all these technical issues we are dealing with, please take time out for yourself and your family. There are a lot of behind-the-scenes issues that our members will never be aware of. I think that it’s important to emphasize that this is a great place to connect but we must connect with our own realities as well. I hope to give more updates once I receive them.
